Broei, the new do & think place for the youth had its first three years in Geraard de Duivelsteen
After three intense years in Geraard de Duivelsteen, we move (temporarily) to a new location in Ghent. We had the most amazing three years in the castle, full of wonderful people, workshops, Broeilab, parties, expositions,... We saw so many good ideas come to life, which gave us endless energy to create, do & think together.

We got an empty hangar to fill with creations, ideas & people. That's why we need you! Do you & your organisation feel like becoming a part of Broei 2023?

What
BROEI is a platform for young people between 16 and 30 years old. BROEI offers space to do, think and invent. Organisations, collectives and individuals who work with young people are welcome.
The emphasis is on working together & connecting in an open house, where guests learn from each other, inspire, challenge, do business and (further) build a new story together.

Who can be part of Broei?
Do you have an idea, concept, start-up, dream, project,... that you want to brush up on with others? Do you ever dare to look over the wall of your own organization? Are you looking for a place where you can grow your plan? Then Broei is the space you are looking for. And then you are our ideal guest!
You can register for the open call if you:
- are between 16 and 30 years old
- are an organisation/individual that works with young people between 16 and 30 years old
- are an organisation/individual that would like to work with young people between 16 and 30 years old working
- works with young people seeking opportunities or knows someone who could use a helping hand
Who is responsible?
A group of young people together, doesn't that make for stormy excesses? We are ready with a team of 7 employees to ensure that Broei runs smoothly. They provide the necessary information & advice, technical & logistical support, support the community formation... They do not interfere in the creation process. In exchange for shelter and support, our guests take care of the property as a good family man.
Location?
Until this year, Broei was located within the walls of the Geraard de Duivelsteen. That building will undergo some renovations in the coming years so that we can soon provide space for young people in an improved building. In the meantime we fill an empty warehouse, Nieuwland 65 9000 Ghent. We do this in collaboration with the City of Ghent, because Ghent will be European Youth Capital in 2024. Our location will become one of the youth hubs that year. Afterwards we return to our regular base in the Duivelsteen.
What kind of projects can I come to Broei for?
We want to keep the type of projects that you can realize at Broei broad. We focus on 3
pillars: Learning & entrepreneurship, technology & sustainable future and creativity &
expression. Forcing offers room for experimentation and development. The most important
condition is that your project proposal is by & for young people between 16 and 30 years old.
Together with Constructlab, we will look at what needs you have as an organization of Broei.
We will then work with that during construction at the new location.
